The place where we usually live is the place where most of our points of reference, our affections, our satisfactions and, therefore, also our certainties reside. At the same time, all of our weaknesses also reside in our daily lives, along with the causes of worry, anger and stress.
Work, school, human relationships with family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances, as well as being a source of well-being, can also be causes of friction and tension.

A matter of perspective

Imagine if all the known world was your town. At its borders, put whatever you want: an overhang that leads directly to the infinity of the universe or a “Pac-Man” effect that takes you to the opposite side of the map. Imagine your problems materializing in the form of lightning strikes where every single headache is. You will see more lightning strikes falling on the place where you work, as many as there are colleagues or superiors who you can't stand, you will see a lightning bolt falling on the houses of some relatives you no longer speak with, on the house of your neighbor who does not greet you, even if you haven't done anything to him; you will see a lightning bolt fall on your partner with whom things are not going great. Whether you see one or more of these lightning bolts or see others linked to causes that I have not mentioned, the fact remains that your small town can be said to be prey to a bad perturbation, a bad weather from which you cannot shelter yourself by staying there.

Going away

Now, try to expand your world. Get on a plane and leave your country, point A, reaching a point B that is far away. At this point, your world is no longer that imaginary and absurd world formed by your only town, but the real world, the one we live in, the vast, varied and wonderful one. Land and look around. Try to locate the disturbance due to your problems. Do you still see it?
This imaginary journey, which I wish you will become real, does not start from the assumption that the solution to problems is to escape from them!

What really happens

Traveling, among other things, is also a way to broaden your views, to raise that awareness that life is so much other stuff, in addition to what usually happens to you! Furthermore, traveling often involves meeting new people and learning about new cultures. This generates a comparison that makes you have pleasant experiences that you could try to take home with you (in Jordan, I discovered the passion for Scuba Diving. In my daily life, back in Italy, there is now diving too!). Furthermore, the comparison could put you in front of the problems of other cultures and societies, problems that, perhaps, you did not imagine could exist or you had only heard about on the news. In the latter case, you may find yourself comparing your problems with those of others and, in doing so, you may find yourself seeing the former extremely scaled down.

The power of beauty

Now, instead, imagine yourself on a fantastic beach, at the foot or on the top of a very high mountain, in the immense desert or in a valley colored by flowers. Can your neighbor or your asshole colleague find a place in such a scenario?

The risk of routine

The skirmishes you have with someone in your town are drops that fill the jar of your patience or, at times, of your sanity. Everyday life can force you to do things you don't feel like doing, to interact with people you don't want to. The moment you let this become the only life you live, the only world around you, that jar is doomed to fill up, to overflow.
Sometimes, we forget about our freedom and our rights and act as if someone is pointing a gun to our head, forcing us to do what we do every day, endlessly.

But everything has a price

Leaving has a cost and someone could, rightly, object: "What if I couldn't afford it?". Right. In this article I urge you to go far, to lose visibility of your problems. However, the concept of "far away" is extremely relative. For some, going far could mean going to the other side of the world, facing significant costs. But who are they? If the "far" must be so far, it is clear that we are talking about people who, perhaps, have already had the opportunity to go elsewhere. For the victims of everyday life, however, "far" could already be four kilometers from home. To go far, therefore, you don't need too much time or too many resources. The important thing is to fill one or more days with something different, which makes you forget everything else! Finally, before stating that travel is always expensive, it is advisable to inform yourself properly. Traveling, even abroad, is not necessarely expensive. Indeed, we are becoming more and more accustomed to the idea that it is the opposite. For example, in this article ( here ) I write about how easy it is to find flights at very low cost!
